At their home opener, the Toronto Maple Leafs hosted a group of 2008 Olympic medallists who were honoured for their achievements in Beijing.


 

On August 21, Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, Ont. became the first Canadian to win an individual equestrian gold medal at the Olympic Games. He competes in show jumping with horse Hickstead.


Carol Huynh lets her emotions flow after receiving the gold medal for winning the women’s 48 kg wrestling event in Beijing.


Canada’s first Olympic track medal in 12 years was won by Priscilla Lopes-Schliep, who won bronze in the 100 m hurdles final.
